I.
Built to keep you going.
The weekly question and gentle reminders are the part that keeps you in it, so you don't drift off the way every journal and photo book eventually does.
One child. Twenty years. In order.
Your camera roll has the birthday and the first day of school. It doesn't have the word they said wrong for two years.
We’ll send the occasional update and let you know the moment it’s ready. No spam, ever.

Spring 2026 · Age 5
Told the same knock-knock joke for a month straight. Called the moon a night sun.
Since last time
Stopped needing the hallway light.
The problem
You meant to make the photo book. You started the journal. You bought the app. Then life happened, and you fell off. Meanwhile the version of them you keep meaning to capture is already changing. The way they pronounce things wrong. The questions they ask. By the time you get to it, that kid is already gone.
Why I’m building this
When my son left for college, I went back through years of photos and videos looking for him. I had all the events. The games, the birthdays, the trips. But I couldn’t find the kid who mispronounced words, asked impossible questions, and danced badly in the living room.
I had captured what we did. I had missed who he was. I’m building Hheirloom so other parents don’t end up where I did, holding a thousand pictures and still missing the person.
— Patrick, founder of Hheirloom

The process
Four steps. Most of it works with what you already have, and the rest takes a minute a week.

Pull in the photos and videos sitting on your phone from a moment you want to hold onto.

A handful of simple prompts about who they are right now. What they're obsessed with, what they say all the time, what makes them laugh. Answer the ones you want, skip the rest.

Each week Hheirloom asks you one short question about your child. Answer it with a photo or a short video, or just type a line. These collect between the bigger moments.

Hheirloom turns it into a milestone: a collage, a written portrait of who they are at this age, and a note on what's changed since last time.

A sample milestone
Every milestone is a written portrait built from the moments you put in.

Summer 2025 · Age 5
She turned five this summer. Still said pasketti when she was tired. Asked why the sky was blue, then asked why it wasn’t always. Got quieter in groups. Funnier alone with her brother.
Since last summer
She used to need a song to fall asleep. This summer, she read herself to sleep with a flashlight. Started asking ‘what if’ questions before bed.
Built from 8 photos, 4 video clips, and 3 of your answers.
Every milestone can be saved to your phone as an image.
In their own words
Early on you answer the weekly question about them. Once they can talk, some weeks you hold the phone and let them answer instead. A few seconds of them thinking out loud says more than a week of photos.
Field notes
I started a journal three years ago. I was good in the beginning. Then I fell off.
I have fifty thousand photos on my phone. I'm not really good at doing anything with them.
I want to remember the things they pronounce wrong. When they start saying it right, it's always a little sad.
People always think they're going to do it themselves. They never do. I do it all the time.
Who they’re becoming
The way they talked at three becomes context for who they are at five. You don’t just see the moments. You see the arc.

Trust
Your child’s photos never leave our servers.
The written portrait is built from the answers you type, and only that text is ever sent to the service that writes it. Your photos and videos stay in our own storage. Nothing in Hheirloom detects or recognizes faces.

Questions parents ask
A timeline for each child, in order by age. Each milestone opens to show the collage, a short written portrait, and a note on what changed since last time.
